here,
6*x/100=8*y/100
or 6x=8y
or x= 8y/6= 4y/3 ......(i)

Again,
x+y=3500
Substituting value of x from (i) in the above eqn,
4y/3 +y=3500
or (4y+3y)/3=3500
or 7y = 10500
or y=1500
also,
x=4y/3=4*1500/3=2000

Hence the numbers are 2000 and 1500
