so by the second condition given in your question we get equation

y = 2x + 8

By the condition given in your question we get equation

x + 2x + 8 = 56

3x + 8 = 56

3x = 48

x = 16

y = 2x + 8

= 32 + 8

= 40

so two numbers are 16 & 40
