Step-by-step explanation:

  • let us consider the two numbers are x,y
  • x+y=0
  • x-y=-76

adding these two eqn

  • 2x=-76
  • x=-38
  • y=38

two numbers are 38,-38

#askedgoodquestion #here'stheanswer

let the numbers be x and y

now according to question

their sum is equal to 0.

x+y = 0 ------(1)

and their difference is equal to -76. so,

x-y = -76------(2)

or

y-x = -76-------(3)

case (I)

add both equations

1 & 2

x + y = 0

x - y = -76

-----------------

2x = -76

x= -38

putting X's value in (1) equation

(-38)+y = 0

y = 38

so ,

x= -38 & y= 38

case(ii)

add both equations

1 & 3

[here, (3) equation is y-x = -76 or we can say -x +y = -76]

x + y = 0

-x +y = -76

-----------------

2y = -76

y = -38

putting y's value in (1) equation,

x +(-38) = 0

x = 38

so , x = 38 & y = -38

case(I) answer

x = - 38 & y = 38

case(ii) answer

x = 38 & y = -38
