Let the two numbers be x and y respectively.

From the first condition,

x+y = 11 .................(1)

From the second condition,

x-y = 5 ..................(2)

Adding (1) and (2) , we get

x+y = 11 .........(1)

x -y = 5 ..........(2).

+ + +

__________

2x = 16

x=8

Substituting the value of x in (1) , we get

8+y =11

y = 3

Therefore,

The two numbers are 8 and 3
