Consider 2 no.s such that their sum is 160
Let 2 no.s be x
and 160-x
Given
x:(160-x) = 5:11
=> x/(160-x) = 5/11
11x = 5(160 - x)
[ Cross multiply (or) take Product of Extremes = Product of Means in the given Ratio]
11x = 800 - 5x
16x = 800
x = 50
So one no. is x= 50 and other is 160-x=160-50=110
;)
hope it helps
