Answer:

Let the required two number be X and Y.

According to question

X+Y =40…………………………(i)

And the difference of two number is 4

X-Y=4……………………………(ii)

On solving both equation

Add equation (i) and (ii)

2X=44

So X= 44/2=22.

And put the value of X in equation (i)

We get

Y=22–4=18

So Y = 18.

Hence ratio of resultant number is

22/18=11:9.

The sum of two numbers is 40 and their difference is 4. What is the ratio of the numbers?

Sum of two numbers is 40 and their difference is 20. Find the numbers?

What is the sum of two numbers if 18 and their difference is 4?

Two numbers are respectively 60% and 40% than the third number. What is the ratio between two numbers?

What is the sum of the whole numbers from 21 to 40 (including 21 and 40)?

Let the two numbers are x and y. Then according to the question, x+y=40

And x-y=4

On Adding these two equations we get

2x=44

x=22

Putting the value of x in x+y=40

We get 22+y=40

That is y=40–22

y=18

Thus the resultant ratio becomes 22:18 or 11:9

Let the 2 numbers be Xand Y

X+Y= 40

X-Y=4

2X=44

X=22

Y=18

21:19 22-1 ; 18+1

22:9 22: 1/2

11::18 22÷2 : 1

The ratio of 2 numbers required is

22:18 =11:9

Let the two numbers are x and y.

According to question,

x+y=40 …… i)

x-y=4…………ii)

Addition of eq(i) and eq(ii), we get

2x=44

Or, x=22

Put the value of x in eq(i), we get

y=18

x/y=22/18=11/9

Hence, required ratio of x:y is 11:9.

The difference of two numbers is 11 and one-fifth of their sum is 9. Find the numbers?

22% of what number is 40?

Which number is best, 18 or 19?

What is the 60% of a number, if three-fifth of that number is more than its 40% by 85?

How many 3 digit numbers are multiples of 8?

Let x and y be the two members,

x+y=40………………………1

x-y=4…………………………2

Adding 1 and 2

2x=44

x=22

Putting value of x in 1,

22+y=40

y=18

Ratio— 22:18=11:9

What is the sum of two numbers if 18 and their difference is 4?

The sum of x and y is 18.

can be written as equation A:

x + y = 18

The difference between x and y is 4.

can be written as equation B:

x - y = 4

Now solve equation B

x - y = 4

x = 4 + y

Then substitute x in equation A from the equation B and then solve for y:

x + y = 18

4 + y+ y = 18

4 + 2y = 18

2y = 18

y = 7

substitute y for 7 in equation A and solve for x:

x + y = 18

x+ 7= 18

X = 11

Answer: 11 and 7 as proven here:

Sum: 11 + 7 = 18

Difference: 11 - 7 = 4

What is the average of the first 19 multiples of 19 (easy method)?

It all depends on what you call first. Do you start with 0 or 1 or something else.

Assuming you start with 1, the general method for finding the average of the first n multiples of n is to observe that you have to sum 1n, 2n, … (n-1)×n, n×n (the multiples) and divide the result by n to get that average. If you divide each of the multiples by n, you just have to sum 1, 2, … n-1, n to get your average.

You can then observe, like Gauss did when he was 7, that by adding the symmetrical parts of the sequence of numbers, i.e. 1+n, 2+n-1… you get n/2 terms that are each worth 1+n thus this sum is n×(n+

The ages of Ram and Shyam are in the ratio 2:1 and after 5 years their ratios are 3:2, then what is the present age?

The ages of Ram and Shyam are in the ratio 2:1 and after 5 years their ratios are 3:2, then what is the present age?

Solution: The current ages of Ram and Shyam are R and S.

R:S = 2:1 or

R = 2S, or

2R = 4S …(1)

(R+5):(S+5) = 3:2, or

2R+10 = 3S+15, or

2R = 3S+5 …(2)

From (1) and (2): 4S = 3S+5, or S = 5.

So, Shyam is 5 years nor and Ram is 10. Answer.

If A: B=2:3, B: C=4:5 and C: D=6:7, what is the value of A, B, C and D?

There can be multiple answer to this question, Best answer is…

A=16,B=24,C=30,D=35

I am attaching my method of solving this question……

If A:B = 2:3, B:C = 4:5 and C:D = 6:7, what is A:D?

A:B =2:3 B:C=4:5 C:D=6:7

then, A:B:C:D = ?

First A:B = 2 : 3 B:C= 4:5

( LCM of 3&4=12)

Rewrite A:B 8:12

B:C=12:15 Therefore A:B:C = 8:12:15 (as now we have equalled B)

Now C:D=6:7 and A:B:C=8:12:15

Since C is common we have to find the LCM of 15 and 6 which is 30.

Equallising we get:

A:B:C= 16:24:30 and C:D= 30:35

Now A:B:C:D 16:24:30:35

and A:D 16:35.

In what ratio rice at Rs. 10/kg, Rs. 15/kg and Rs. 40/kg must be mixed so that the price of the mixture becomes Rs. 20/kg?

Assume 100 kg of mixture

Let ratio be x y and z

x+y+z=100…….(1)

z=100-(x+y)

(10x+15y+40z)/(x+y+z)=20……..(2)

10x+15y+40(100-x-y)=2000

30x+25y=2000

By trial and error x and y can be ( with their sum less than 100)

5 & 74………(3) This gives z=21 from (1) but does not satisfy (2)

10 & 68……(4) This gives z=22 and also satisfies equation (2).

So desired ratio is x:y:z=10:68:22

Or 5:34:11
