and x-y=18________2
now, from 1, x+y=46
=>x=46-y________3
putting 3 in 2, we get
46-y-y=18
=>46-2y=18
=>-2y=18-46
=>-2y=-28, so minus will be cancelled and 2 will be transposedbto other side.
=>y=28/2
