5
Let the no. be x and the other no be 5-x.
ATQ.....
x/x-5 = 4
x= 4(x-5)
x= 4x-20
x-4x = (-20)
-3x = -20
x= 20/3
5-x= 5-20/3= -5/3

Verification:
20/3 + -5/3 = 15/3 =5
And in the it was given that the sum of the 2no.s is 5

Given,

The sum of the two numbers is 5.

Tf the bigger number is divided by smaller number quotient=4 and remainder =0.

To Find,

The two numbers =?

Solution,

We can solve the question as follows:

Let the bigger number be x and the smaller number be y.

It is given to us that the sum of two numbers is 5.

Therefore,

x + y = 5      ---------- (1)

Now, if the bigger number is divided by the smaller number, the quotient is 4 and the remainder is 0.

We know, when a dividend is divided by a divisor, the dividend is equal to the sum of divisor x quotient and remainder.

Dividend = Divisor*Quotient + Remainder

Now, x is the dividend, y is the divisor, the quotient is 4 and the remainder is 0.

x = y*4 + 0

x = 4y       ------------- (2)

Substituting equation (2) in equation (1),

4y + y = 5

5y = 5

y = 1

Now, substituting y = 1 in equation (2),

x = 4*1

x = 4

Hence, the two numbers are 1 and 4.
