Answer:

let the larger no. be = x

smaller no. be = 72-x

3x-2(72-x) = 56

3x-144+2x = 56

5x-144=56

5x=200

x= 40 (ans)

\huge\mathfrak{Answer:}

Given:

  • We have been given that the sum of two numbers is 72.
  • The difference between the three times the larger and twice the smaller is 56.

To Find:

  • We need to find the number.

Solution:

Let the lager number be x and the smaller number be (72 - x).

By Question we have

The difference between the three times the larger and twice the smaller is 56. Therefore,

3x - 2(72-x) = 56

=> 3x - 144 + 2x = 56

=> 5x - 144 = 56

=> 5x = 56 + 144

=> 5x = 200

=> x = 200/5

=> x = 40

Therefore, larger number is x = 40 and smaller number = 72 - x = 72 - 40 = 32.

Hence, the required numbers are 40 and 32.
