atq,

X+y=8

X=8-y___________(1)

and,

1/X +1/y= 8/15

X+y/xy=8/15

15x+15y=8xy

15(8-y)-15y=8(8-y)y

120-15y-15y=(64-8y)y

120-30y=64y-8y^2

8y^2-94y+120=0

2(4y^2-47y+60)=0

4y^2-47y+60=0

after that you can solve it by factorising it.
