According to the question,

The sum of two numbers are 20.

x + y = 20 --------(1)

Their difference is 8 .

x - y = 8 ------------(2)

Adding equation, (1) & (2)

x + y = 20

x - y = 8

2x = 28

________

➝ x = 28/2

➝ x = 14

x + y = 20

14 + y = 20

y = 20 - 14

y = 6

The numbers involved are 14 & 6 .
