The sum of two numbers are 80 and the difference between them are 30 find the numbers

Given :-

• The sum of two numbers are 80
• The difference between them are 30

To find :-

• Find the numbers

Solution :-

Let the first number be x then second number be y

According to the question

• (x + y) = 80 ---(i)
• (x - y) = 30 ----------(ii)

Add both the equations

→ (x + y) + (x - y) = 80 + 30

→ x + y + x - y = 110

→ 2x = 110

→ x = 110/2

→ x = 55

Now, substitute the value of x in eqⁿ (ii)

→ (x - y) = 30

→ 55 - y = 30

→ 55 - 30 = y

→ y = 25

Hence,

• First number = x = 55
• Second number = y = 25
