The two numbers whose sum is 10 & difference is 2 are 6 & 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

the sum of two numbers is 10

The difference between the two numbers is 2

To find:

the two numbers

Solution:

Let's assume that the two numbers are a & b

According to the given conditions

The sum of a & b is 10

⇒ a + b = 10..................(1)

And the difference between the two numbers a & b is 2

⇒ a - b = 2....................(2)

Adding equations (1) & (2) to get the value of a

   a + b = 10

(+) a - b = 2

    2a     =12

∴ 2a = 12

∴ a = 12/2

∴ a = 6

Putting the value of variable 'a' in equation (1)

∴ a + b = 10

∴ 6 + b = 10

∴ b = 10 -6

∴ b = 4

Thus, the two numbers are 6 & 4 respectively.

The two numbers are 6 and 4 respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The sum of two numbers is 10.

The difference between the two numbers is 2.

To Find:

The two numbers whose sum is 10 and  difference is 2.

Solution:

Let the two numbers are  p and q respectively.

As given,the sum of two numbers is 10.

p+q=10  ---------- equation no.01.

As given,the difference between the two numbers is 2.

p-q=2  -------- equation no.02.

Adding equation no.01 and equation no.02. we get.

2p=12\\p=6

Subtracting  equation no.02  from  equation no.01. we get.

2q=8\\q=4

Thus,the two numbers are 6 and 4 respectively.
