according to the question,
x+y=-10(equation 1)
xy=9(equation 2)
from equation 1
x=-10-y
from equation 2
(-10-y)y=9
-10y-y^2=9
y^2+10y+9=0
y^2+9y+y+9=0
y(y+9)+1(y+9)=0
(y+9)(y+1)=0
y=-9,-1
if you put y=-9 then x=-19
if we put y=-1 then x=-11
difference becomes 10 in both value of y and x
