Let 2 no.s be

Smaller one x and larger no . y

Sum of 2 no s = 110

= x + y = 110

=>y = 110 - x

So, according to the question.

(110 - x)/5 - 8 = x/9

=> (110 - x - 40)/5 = x/9 (L.C.M)

Now, cross multiplying these, we get.

990 - 9x - 360 = 5x

630 = 5x + 9x

630 = 14x

x = 630/14

x = 45

Smaller number(x) is 45

larger number (y) 110 - 45 = 65
