Answer:

hi

Step-by-step explanation:

Let two numbers be x & y.

Sum of two numbers is 12 so we get eq,

x+y =12.......eq 1

one number is subtracted from other its -4, so we get eq,

x-y=-4........eq 2

adding eq 1 & eq 2, we get,

2x=8

x=4

substituting x=4 in eq 1, we get 4+y=12

                                                 y=8

so two numbers are 4 & 8.

check: LHS of eq 1=x+y = 4+8=12= RHS

          LHS of eq 2= x-y=4-8=-4= RHS.

so its verified ans.

Given,

Sum of two numbers = 12

If one number is subtracted from three times the other, the result is 5

To find,

The two numbers.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Let, the two numbers = x and y

According to the data mentioned in the question :

x+y = 12 ....(1)

3x-y = 5 ....(2)

Adding (2) with (1), we get :

x+y = 12

3x-y = 5

(+)

______

4x = 17

x = 17/4 = 4.25

By putting the value of x in equation (1), we get :

4.25+y = 12

y = 12-4.25

y = 7.75

Hence, the two numbers are 4.25 and 7.75
