Let

x--------->  the larger number

y---------> the smaller number

we know that

x+y=148------> equation 1

x=3y-2------> equation 2

substitute 2 in 1

[3y-2]+y=148--------> 4y=150---------> y=150/4------> y=37.5

x=3y-2----> x=3*37.5-2-----> x=110.5

so,

the larger number is 110.5

the smaller number is 37.5

Answer:

25 & 123

Step-by-step explanation:

Let two numbers= X,Y

Given in the question that

Y=5X-2 ...........(1)

& X+Y=148..........(2)

From eq. (1) put the value of Y in the eq.(2)

so,. X+(5X-2)=148

X+5X-2=148

6X-2=148

6X=148+2

6X=150

X=150/6

X=25........…....(3)

From eq.(1) put the value of X in eq.(2)

so,. 25+Y=148

Y=148-25

Y=123....…....(4)

Finally two numbers are X=25 & Y=123 .
