x+y = 184
y = 184-x
1/3x-1/7y = 8
1/3x-1/7(184-x) = 8
1/3x-184/7+1/7x = 8
1/3x+1/7x = 8+184/7
10/21x = 240/7
x = 240/7*10/21
x = 72
y = 184-72
y = 112
Therefore, the smaller no is 72.
