Let :

  • Bigger number = x
  • Smaller number = y

Given :

  • Sum of two numbers = 195
  • Bigger number exceed smaller number by 3

To find :

Digit repeated in bigger number

SOLUTION :

Sum of two numbers = x + y

x + y = 195

y = 195 - x. equation 1

Bigger number = smaller number + 3

x = y + 3

Put value of y from equation 1 into above equation.

x = (195-x + 3)

x + x = 195 + 3

2x = 198

x = 198 ÷ 2

x = 99

So Bigger number is 99

And we can see that in bigger number, digit 9 is repeated

ANSWER :

Option b) 9
