Let the numbers be x and y.
As per given condition :-
x + y = 2 ................(1)
x - y = 1
-------------------
2x = 3 (by adding both the equation)
x = 3/2
Putting this value on eqn (1)
3/2 + Y = 2
Y = 2 - 3/2
Y = (4-3)/2
Y = 1/2.
Hope it helps.

HELLO USER ✌
HERE'S YOUR ANSWER FRIEND,
LET THE TWO NUMBERS BE X AND Y.
THEREFORE,
ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN IN THE QUESTION
WE HAVE
FIRST CASE : X + Y = 2...............(1)
SECOND CASE : X - Y = 1 ..........(2)
==> THEREFORE, ON SOLVING ABOVE EQUATIONS WE HAVE,
BY ELIMINATION METHOD,
X + Y = 2
X - Y = 1
==> 2X = 3
==> X = 3/2 ..............................(3)
AND ON SUBSTITUTING (3) IN (2) WE HAVE,
==> X - Y = 1
==> 3/2 - Y = 1
==> -Y = 1 - 3/2
==> -Y = -1/2
==> Y = 1/2
THUS, THE TWO NUMBERS ARE 1/2 AND 3/2
HOPE IT HELPS YOU.
