Answer:

Let one number be x

[Where,x>y]

And other number be y

First equation is,

X +Y =20

So, X =20-Y.......... (i)

Second equation is,

X -Y =4

or, X =Y+4............(ii)

Putting the value of (i) here we get,

20-Y =Y +4

or, -Y-Y =4-20

or, -2Y =-16

or, Y =-16/-2

So, Y =8

Putting the value of Y into the (ii) equation we get,

X =8+4

So, X =12

So, First number is: 12

Second number is: 8
