one number is 13 and other is 7 respectively

Given

  • The sum of two numbers is 20
  • difference is 6

To find

  • the number

solution

we are provided with two numbers whose sum is 20 and difference is 6 and are asked to find the both numbers.

let X and Y B both a numbers which are required,

therefore according to the given conditions,

x + y = 20

and

x - y = 6

adding the both equations obtained from the conditions ,we get ,

2x = 26

or, x = 13

therefore the second number that is y would be,

y = 20 - x

or, y = 20 - 13

or, y = 7

therefore, one number is 13 and other is 7 respectively

Given :

The sum of two numbers is 20 and their difference is 6.

To find :

the two numbers

Step-by-step explanation:

let the two numbers be : a & b

now , it is given that

a + b = 20                  _______________ eq(1)

a - b = 6                     _______________ eq(2)

add equation 1 & 2 :

2a = 26

==> a = 13 ;

subtract both equations :

2b = 14 ;

==> b = 7 ;

Hence the two numbers are 13 & 7 .
