A/C to question..,

i)x+y=2490 and

ii)6.5% of x= 8.5% of y

=>  simplifying ii) 6.5/100*x= 8.5/100*y

                           6.5*x=8.5*y......(bcz 100 on both sides cancel out)

now from i) x=2490-y....

putting i) in ii)

we get..,

6.5(2490-y) =8.5*y

=>16185-6.5*y=8.5*y

=>16185=15*y

i.e y=16185/15 => y=1079   and from eqn i) x=1411.
