Let the two numbers be x and y
case1 : x+y = 25
case2 : x-y = 15
+y and -y gets cancelled
2x = 40
x =40/2
x = 20
Substitute x in equation 1

20+y = 25
y =25-20
y = 5
Therefore the two numbers are 20 and 5.
