Let the first no be x

x + x + 9 = 25

2x = 25 - 9

2x = 16

x =  \frac{16}{2}

x = 8

First no is 8.

Second no is 17.

Let us assume that the two numbers are x and y

so, x+y=25 so,y=25-x(1)

Given that y=9+x ...

so,25-x = 9+x

2x=25-9

2x=16

x=16/2

Therefore x=8 , y = (x+y)=25 = 8+y = 25 = y = 25-8 = 17
