       and,     x-y= 6 (equation 2)

when we add these two equations, we get-

2x= 32

x= 16

when we put the  value of x in equation 1, we get-

16+y= 26

y= 26-16 = 10

so, the ratio of 16 and 10= 16/10= 8/5= 8:5
