Solution

Given :-

  • The sum of two numbers is 26 and there difference is 2.

To Find :-

  • Which are the numbers?

Step-by-Step-Explaination :-

Let the number be x and y

According yo the question,

x + y = 26 ................... equation ( 1 )

x - y = 2 .................... equation ( 2 )

Adding Equation 1 and 2

x + y = 26

+ x - y = 2

_________

2x = 28

2x = 28

=> x = 28/2

=> x = 14

Putting the value of y in equation ( 1 )

=> x + y = 26

=> x + 14 = 26

=> x = 26 - 14

=> y = 12

Hence,

The value of x = 14 and y = 12

GIVEN :

  • The sum of two numbers = 26.
  • Difference = 2

TO FIND :

  • What are the number ?

SOLUTION :

Let the numbers be x and y.

According to the condition,

\tt x \: + \: y \: = \: 26 ------- (i)

\tt x \: - \: y \: = \: 2 -------- (ii)

Now,

By adding both equations,

we get

\quad \tt x + y = 26 + x - y = 2

We get, \mathbb 2x \: = \: 28

\implies \mathbb x \: = \: 14

put the values in the Equation (i)

=> x + y = 26

=> x + 14 = 26

=> y = 12

Therefore, The value of x = 14 and y = 12.
