Numbers

Solution :-

Let the smaller number be x

And greater number be 2x + 2

 \quad \quad \sf \: x + 2x + 2 = 26 \quad

 \quad \quad \sf \: 3x + 2 = 26

 \quad \quad \sf \: 3x = 26 - 2

 \quad \quad \sf3x = 24

 \quad \quad \sf \: x = \cancel  \dfrac{24}{3}

 \quad \quad \frak \pink{x = 8}

Numbers are

Answer :-

  • The Numbers are 8 and 18.

Explanation :-

Given : The sum of two numbers is 26. One of the numbers is 2 more than twice the other.

To Find : The Numbers.

Solution :

Let first Number be x.

So, Second Number = 2x + 2.

According to the Question,

⇢ x + 2x + 2 = 26.

⇢ 3x + 2 = 26.

⇢ 3x = 26 - 2.

⇢ 3x = 24.

⇢ x = 24 ÷ 3.

x = 8.

Therefore,

  • First Number = x = 8.

  • Second Number = 2x + 2 = 18.

Verification :-

⇢ x + 2x + 2 = 26.

⇢ 8 + 2(8) + 2 = 26.

⇢ 8 + 18 = 26.
