Solution :

Let us assume that the larger number is x .

This is greater than thrice the smaller number by 12 .

So ,

x = 3 [ Smaller number ] + 12

=> 3 [ Smaller Number ] = ( x - 12)

Smaller number

> ( x - 12)/3

The sum of these two numbers is 276

> x + ( x - 12)/3 = 276

=> ( 4x - 12)/3 = 276

> 4x = 276 × 3 + 12

> 4x = 840

> x = 210

Smaller number.

.> 198/3

> 66.

This is the required answer .

\huge \bf Required\: Answer

Let the smaller number be x

Now,

The greater number = x - 12/3

Let's solve

x + x - 12/3

Taking LCM as 3

3x + x - 12/3 = 276

4x - 12/3 = 276

4x = 276 × 3 + 12

4x = 840

x = 210

Numbers are,

\sf x = 210\: and 66
