let us assume greater number=x
and smaller number is =y
so, x+y=3 _______eq1
x-3y=5 ______eq2
by elimamation method
x+y=3
x-3y=5
variable x is cut by sing changing

so , new eq will be 4y=8 and value of y = 2
now put y =2 in eq 1
so, x+2=3
x=3-2
x= 1
so , the numbers are 1 and 2 ......
