Let the first number be x

and second number be y

According to question

x + y = 30 .......( i ) eq

x - y = 4 .......( ii ) eq

Using elimination method

Add ( i )eq with ( ii ) eq ; we get

x + y + x - y = 30 + 4

2x = 34

x = 34/2

x = 17

So put the value of x on ( i ) eq

x + y = 30 .......( i ) eq

x = 17

17 + y = 30

y = 30 - 17

y = 13
