Given :

  • The sum of two numbers = \sf{-\dfrac{4}{3}}
  • One of the number = \sf{-5}

To Find :

  • The another number.

Solution :

Let, the another number be x

According to the question

\sf{\longrightarrow \: -5 + x = - \dfrac{4}{3}}

\sf{\longrightarrow \:  x = - \dfrac{4}{3}+5}

\sf{\longrightarrow \:  x =  \dfrac{- 4 + 15}{3}}

\sf{\longrightarrow \:  x =  \dfrac{11}{3}}

  • Hence, the another number is 11/3

Verification :

  • Sum of two numbers = \sf{-\dfrac{4}{3}}

\sf{\longrightarrow \:  - 5 + \dfrac{11}{3} = -\dfrac{4}{3}}

\sf{\longrightarrow \:  \dfrac{-15 + 11}{3} = -\dfrac{4}{3}}

\sf{\longrightarrow \:  -\dfrac{4}{3} = -\dfrac{4}{3}}

LHS = RHS
