Answer:

Let the numbers be a and b

so, a + b = 4 and ab = 3

i) sum of their squares = a2 + b2 = (a+b)^2 - 2ab

= (4)^2 - (2 x 3)

= 16 - 6

= 10

ii) sum of their cubes = a3 + b3 = (a+b)(a2 - ab + b2)

= (a + b)(a2 + b2 - ab)

= (4)(10 - 3)

= 4 x 7

= 28

hope it helps

Step-by-step explanation:

sum of numbers is 4

3+1=4

product is 3

3×1=3.

1) 4²=16 , 3² =9

sum 16+9=25

2) 4³=256, 3³=27

sum 256+27=283 ....
