Let the two numbers be x and y.

Given:

x + y = 45

x = 45 - y... (I)

and

x - y = 5

45 - y - y = 5 ( from I)

-2y = 5 - 45

y = - 40 / -2

y = 20

Putting the value of y in equation I, we have

x = 45 - 20

x = 25

Hence, the two numbers are 25 and 20.

Hope it helps.

given -

  • sum of two number is 45
  • x+y=45 ,,,,,, (1)
  • difference of two number is 5
  • x-y=5

To find-

  • value of A and B

Solution

on soliiving equation +1) and second

x+y=45.

x-y=5.

2x=50

x=25

value of x by putting value in equation

x-y=5

x=5+y

25=5+y

25-5=y

20 =y

hence the value of x is 25 and y is 20
