Given that their sum = 45

⇒ 7x+8x = 45

⇒ 15x = 45

⇒ x = 45/15

⇒ x = 3

∴ The numbers are

7x = 7×3 = 21

and

8x = 8×3 = 24

∴ The numbers are 21 and 24
