let first no. be x and another no. be y.

then

x+y=48....(1)

ATQ

x=3y......(2)

by putting this into eqn.1

we get

3y+y=48

4y=48

y=48/4

y=12

by putting this into eqn.2

we get

x=3*12

x=36

hence the numbers are 36 and 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number= a

So, another number= 3a

A.T.Q

a + 3a = 48

4a = 48

a = 12

One number = 12

Another number= 12×3

= 36

So, the numbers are 12 and 36
