➤ Answer :-

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 23)}{16} + \sf (x) = \tt  - 5}

To find the value of 'x' in the following sum we should subtract the answer and the first value............

{\sf \longrightarrow (x) = \tt  (- 5) -  \dfrac{( - 23)}{16}}

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 5)}{1} - \dfrac{( - 23)}{16}}

Convert them into like fractions by taking the LCM of the denominators i.e, 1 and 16.........

LCM of 1 and 16 is 16.

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 5) \times 16}{1 \times 16} - \dfrac{( - 23)}{16}}

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 80)}{16} - \dfrac{( - 23)}{16} = \dfrac{( - 80) - ( - 23)}{16}}

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 80) + 23}{16} = \dfrac{( - 57)}{16}}

{\tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 57)}{16} = \boxed{\tt -3 \dfrac{9}{16}}}

\Huge\therefore The other number is {\tt - 3 \dfrac{9}{16}}.

Answer:

-17/6

Step-by-step explanation:

x + [-13/6] = -5

x = -5 + 13/6 (additive inverse of -13/6)

x = [-5 + 13/6]

x = [ -5/1 + 13/6 ]

x = [-30 + 13]

           6

x = -17/6

hence, the required number is -17/6
