Answer :-

let a number be x and other number be y

then according to the question question

  • x + y = 52 ........(i)
  • x = 2y + 1 .......(ii)

from eq.(i)

  • y = 52 - x ......(iii)

now, substitute the value of y from (iii) in (ii)

 \bold{: \implies x = 2(52 - x) + 1 } \\ \\ \bold{: \implies x = 104 - 2x + 1} \\ \\ \bold{: \implies x + 2x = 104 + 1} \\ \\ \bold{: \implies 3x = 105} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \bold{: \implies x = \cancel \frac{105}{3} } \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \\ \\ \bold{: \implies x = 35 } \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:

now, substitute the value of x in (iii)

 \bold{: \implies \: y = 52 - 35 } \\ \\ \bold{: \implies y = 17 } \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:

value of x is 35 and value of y is 17

hence, two numbers are 17 and 35
