the sum of two numbers is 55 the quotient obtained by dividing the larger number by the smaller number by the smaller number is 2,with a remainder of 7.find the two numbers

Let the bigger number be x and smaller be y.
Sum= 55
Therefore x+y= 55
x= 55-y------(1)
And we know that,
Dividend= Quotient×Divisor + Remainder.
x= 2y+7------(2)

Comparing both,
2y+7= 55-y
3y= 48, y= 16
x+16=55, x= 39

let the smaller no. be x
then,larger no. = 2×x+7(division rule)
now a/q
(2x+7)+x=55
=>2x+7+x=55
=>3x+7=55
=>3x=55-7
=>3x=48
=>x=48/3
=>x=16
so, smaller no. =16 and greater no.=2×16+7 that is 39
