given ,

sum=x+y=72------(1)

one Number x =y+6 ---(2)

put value of x in equation (1)
y+6+y =72

2y =72-6

y=66/2

y=33

now put the value of y in equation (2)

x=33+6

x=39
hence value of x=39 and y=33
