Let one of the numbers be x the the other number will be 6×x = 6x

So, According to the question -

x + 6x = 84

=> add like terms

=> 7x = 84

=> x = 8 ÷ 7

=> x = 12

So 1 number is 12 and other number is 6(12) = 72

Verification --

12 + 72 = 84

84 = 84

Hence, L.H.S = R.H.S

Therefore the two number that has been found are correct.
