The sum of two numbers is 84. If one of them exceeds the other by 12 find the numbers

suppose number is x and other is x+12 . sum of these is 84 then x+x+12=84 2x+12=84. 2x=72 x=36 put value of x that is x+12 is 36 + 12 =84
