Hello Mate!

Let one number be x and other y

Now, x + y = 9
x + y - 9 = 0 ------(1)

5 times of 1st number - 3 times of another = 5
5 x - 3y = 5
5x - 3y - 5 = 0 -------(2)

Let's multiply - 5 from (1) eq., we get :

-5x - 5y + 45 = 0 -------(3)

Add eq., (2) and (3)

-8y + 40 = 0
-8y = -40
y = - 40 / - 8
y = 5

Now keep y value in (1)

x - 5 - 5 = 0
x - 10 = 0
x = 10

Hope it helps☺!

Answer:

X=4 and Y=5

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the first number be x and second number be y.

Sum of two numbers=9(given)

So,x+y=9......(1)

Now, difference of five times the first number and thrice the other number is 5.

So 5x-3y=5......(2)

So by elimination method multiply 3 with eq(1) and multiply 1 with eq(2) and then subtract eq(1)-eq(2).

so 8x=32

So, x=4

Now from eq(1) x+y=9

So, 4+y=9

Therefore y=5

So,x=4 and Y=5

That's the answer.

Thanks.
