The sum of two numbers is 90 and the greater number exceeds twice the smaller number by 15. Find the numbers.

Let the two numbers be x and y

According to question

x+y=90......i

Also

let greater number be x

So

x=2y+15.....ii

Now substituting value of x in equation i we get

2y+15+y=90

or 3y+15 =90

or 3y=90-15

or 3y=75

Therfore y=25

x=2×25+15=65

Hence the greater number is 65 and smaller is 25
