Given:
- Sum of two numbers is 90.
- ⅓ of the longer number is 9 more than twice the smaller one.
Need to find:
- Numbers?
Solution:
Given that,
- Sum of two numbers is 90.
So,
✩ Let's consider smaller number be x.
✩ Therefore, Longer number will be (90 - x).
★ According to the Question:
- ⅓ of the longer number is 9 more than twice the smaller one.
➯ 1/3(90 - x) = 2x + 9
➯ 90 - x = 3(2x + 9)
➯ 90 - x = 6x + 27
➯ - x - 6x = 27 - 90
➯ - 7x = - 63
➯ 7x = 63
➯ x = 63/7
➯ x = 9
Therefore,
- The smaller number is, x = 9
- The larger number is, (90 - x) = 90 - 9 = 81
∴ Hence, the two numbers are 9 and 81.
