Step-by-step explanation:

Let larger no. be 'x'

Let smaller no. be 'y'

so, according to question,

x+y = 0 and ------------- eq. 1

4y + 9x = 4 -------------eq.2

From eq. 1, y= -x

putting in eq. 2

4(-x) +9x = 4

-4x+9x=4

5x= 4

x= 4/5

so, y= -4/5

hope it helps....

Answer :-

Let the small number be x and greater be y.

Atq

1st equation

x+y = 0 ...1

2nd equation

4x + 9y = 4 ...2

______________

multiplying equation 1 with 4,

4x + 4y = 0 ...3

now, substracting equation 3 from equation 2 we get ,

5y = 4

so, y = 4/5

_______________

now from 1,

x + y = 0

so, x + 4/5 = 0

so, x = - 4/5

________________

Smaller number is -4/5

and greater number is 4/5
