A + B = 54 ------- 1
Let A be the smaller number of the two numbers.
A / B = 3/10
10 A = 3 B
A = 3 B /10 ----- 2
Substitute this value of A in equation 1 , we get
3 B /10 + B = 54
(3 B + 10 B ) / 10 = 54
13 B /10 = 54
13 B = 540 B = 540/13
A = 3 /10 * 540/13 = 162/13

A = 3 /10 * 540/13 = 162/13
