Answer :-

The other rational number is \frac{16}{7}.

Solution :-

Let the other rational no. be x.

It is given in the question that sum of x and -2 is \frac{2}{7} i.e.,

=> x + (-2) = \frac{2}{7}

=> x - 2 = \frac{2}{7}

=> x = \frac{2}{7} +2

=> x = \frac{2+2\times7}{7}

=> x = \frac{2+14}{7}

=> x =  \frac{16}{7}

∴ The other rational number is \frac{16}{7}.

Verifying the Answer:-

L.H.S.

=> x + (-2)

=> x - 2

=> \frac{16}{7} - 2

=> \frac{16-2\times7}{7}

=> \frac{16-14}{7}

=> \frac{2}{7}  = R.H.S.

Hence, the calculated answer is correct.
