Answer:

Given:-

The sum of two rational number is 4/5, if one of them is 3/20. Find the other

To Find:-

The other number.

Note:-

When we rearrange a term from one side to another~

+ becomes -

- becomes +

× becomes ÷

÷ becomes ×

Formula Used:-

Known number + unknown number = sum of two rational number

Solution:-

Here, known number is = 3/20, sum of two rational number is = 4/5

and unknown number = ?

Let unknown number = "x"

According to note and formula used point~

 3/20 + x = 4/5

 x = 4/5 - 3/20

So for calculating this value, we need to take it L.C.M~

L.C.M is 20.

 x = 4/5 × 4/4 - 3/20 × 1/1

 x = 16/20 - 3/20

After doing calculations~

 x = 13/20

Checking:-

 3/20 + x = 4/5 ?

 3/20 + 13/20 = 4/5 ?

 16/20 = 4/5 ?

Let's divide it with "4" ( 4×4 = 16, 4×5 = 20; so) ~

 4/5 = 4/5 ?

( yes )

Hence, proved that other number is = 13/20 //

Answer:-

The other number is = 13/20
