✪ Question ✪

The sum of two rational number is 5/2. If one of the numbers is (-5)/10 find the other.

✪ Given ✪

Sum = 5/2

One number = -5/10

✪ To find ✪

The other number.

✪ Solution ✪

Let the other number be x.

According to condition,

x + (-5)/10 = 5/2

↝x - 5/10 = 5/2

↝x = 5/2 + 5/10

↝x = (25+5)/10

↝x = 30/10

↝x = 3

✪ Hence ✪

x = 3

So, the other number is 3.

-------------------------------------------------------------

✪ Verification ✪

x + (-5)/10 = 5/2

↝3 - 5/10 = 5/2

↝(30-5)/10 = 5/2

↝25/10 = 5/2

↝25/10 ÷ 5/5 = 5/2

↝5/2 = 5/2

So, L.H.S = R.H.S.

Hence, verified.

Answer:

This is not a problem

Just subract the given one from the sum

I.e. 5/18 - 1/8

Lcm of dinominators is 2×3x3x2x2 = 72

5/18 = 20/72

1/8 = 9/ 72

5/18 - 1/8 = 20/72 - 9/72 = 11/72

Ans = 11/72
